Space hedging plants in a 'crow's foot' pattern, planting one row in line with the middle of the other.
If cost is an over riding factor in your purchase you could opt for a single row of plants. This will do the job well but it could take longer for it to establish into that perfect hedge. If planting a single row you will need a minimum of 2 plants per metre lenght of your hedge. All the product recommendations show quantities for a single row on larger plants (unless specified) and double row on the smaller plants (with the exception of Box, Lavander these are shown as singles rows as they are normally planted in this way)
If you are looking at Holly, Yew, Beech, Hornbeam, then to make a good thick hedge we advise planting a double row. If ultimately you are not sure then please contact us and we will advise you on the best most cost effective option for you. Conifer hedges are normally planted in a single row with 2 plants per metre.
